Spring Garden Update: Week 1
March 10, 2013
Yesterday we went to Tallahassee Nursery and picked up the plants for our Spring garden. Becky, the kids, and I had fun picking out the plants for our little four by four raised bed.
We settled on four varieties of tomatoes (Old German, Purple Cherokee, Black Prince and Viva Italian), four pepper plants (two Datil, a sweet and one Jalapeño), an eggplant, cucumber, and two types of lettuce.
When we got home I removed the old plants, added some mushroom compost, and laid out the plants. The kids helped me put them into the ground and then we gave them a good watering. I hope our little garden thrives and I hope the kids enjoy watching the plants grow.

Suggestion for next year: trim the bottom leaves on your tomato plants & pepper plants. Plant the plant deeper……roots will grow from the part of the stem you burried so there will be a stronger root system. Hope that makes sense.
