Mason’s First Y(L)ego Set
Mason turns four tomorrow. Yesterday afternoon a present arrived from his Aunt Pittypat who lives in Atlanta. When I got home he thrust a box of Captain America Yegos into my legs.
“Daddy! I got Yegos! Let’s play with them!”
While lasagne warmed in the oven we sat on the living room floor. I opened the carboard box and opened the clear basket bags containing the Lego pieces. Mason turned to me with a “now what do we do daddy” look on his face.
“We need to sort the pieces and make sure we have all of them.”
Small piles of identical pieces formed on the floor.
“Now we use the map! Okay daddy. Start building.”
We put Captain America’s head onto his small plastic body and then assembled the bad guys. We put the Captain’s motorcyle together, and then the bad guys’ vehicle and small outpost.
“You’re good at Yegos daddy!” he said as the set came together.
We then sat and played, each of us alternating between being the good guy and the bad guys. It was a blast and made me feel like I was 8 years old again. I love being a dad.
