Ore Ida Extra Crispy Golden Crinkles are Delicious
I will never buy a deep fryer, nor will I have one installed in a kitchen island (I’m looking at you Paula Deen). As a result of my vow we are sentenced to baking our French fires in the oven. This typically results in a flaccid fry that makes me question my commitment. There is hope, however, for those who shun the deep fryer. Tonight while cruising Winn Dixie with Little Man I spotted Ore-Ida Extra Crispy Golden Crinkles. Becky is on Team Steak Fry, but I decided to give them a shot.
When I got home I turned the oven on and spread the French Fries on a large sheet pan while I shaped the ground chuck into patties. While the hamburgers cooked, the fries sizzled away in the oven. When I pulled them out, they were a deep golden brown. I seasoned them, and let them cool for a moment. I looked over the fries, picked one up, and took a bite. It was perfectly crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. Impressive.
The family happily ate them, and so long as I am buying the fries from the grocery store they will only be Ore Ida Extra Crispy Golden Crinkles.

We don’t buy the extra crispy ones but the normal crinkles do fine in the oven; I won’t own a deep fryer either. EW.
We usually get the steak fries which are never done enough for me. And yes, a deep fryer is super ew. The only thing I fry is meatballs when I make them 3 or 4 times a year.
When I lived in a house with 3 others in college, we had a fryer and used it exactly three times. Clean up is not worth it.
Agree it is too much of a pain. Speaking of frying, when I was pledging in college one of the houses had Frydays. Everything was fries… it was amazingly delicious, and bad for you.
I have a deep fryer that is a TFal rebranded as an Emeril brand. It’s awesome, because it auto drains into a storage pan when the oil cools off. Clean up is easy.
Fries are better in it, but oddly enough, I like baked Tater Tots better.
