Halloween in Downtown Monticello
This evening we took the kids trick-or-treating downtown. All of the local merchants were giving out candy and we thought it would be fun to take them around and then get some dinner.
We parked near the courthouse and then loaded the little ones into their wagon. Mason held his trick-or-treat bucket while Julia drank some milk. We headed towards Tupelo’s, then past the First Baptist Church and looped into downtown. They had Dogwood Street set up like a haunted house with various people dressed in costumes. Mason got a little scared and did not want to get out of the wagon.
Before heading for some Mexican we checked out a new store in the old library building. It had a mix of antiques and other gift items. We ran into one of our old neighbors and chatted.
Mason and Julia were working through their candy without taking the wrappers off. Julia was eating a Tootsie roll while Mason ate some chocolate. We didn’t want them to spoil their dinner so we took the bucket of candy. Mason pitched a monumental fit and we decided against going out to dinner. Instead, we grabbed some sandwiches and headed to the house.
